Kathy Tormann

Kathy graduated in Law from Cambridge University and subsequently the College of Law. She qualified as a Solicitor at RadcliffesLeBrasseurs in 1994.
She specialised in clinical negligence and professional regulation, working initially at Le Brasseurs and subsequently at Field Fisher Waterhouse where she was a senior solicitor in the Public Law group.
In her legal practice, Kathy advised clients such as the Medical Protection Society, the Medical and Dental Defence Union of Scotland, the General Medical Council and the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority. She frequently undertook advocay before the courts, at inquests and before disciplinary tribunals.
Since leaving private practice, Kathy has qualified as a mediator with ADR group, and has lectured for the Institute of Legal Executives course at Bromley College. She currently sits on two Lay Advisory Committees for the Royal College of Surgeons.
As an experienced mediator, Kathy's forte is that she has an unrivalled understanding of the nature of disputes arising out of primary and secondary healthcare settings, both within the NHS and the private sector. She is conscious of, and empathetic with, the particular stresses that parties to healthcare related disputes endure. Kathy actively promotes the constructive resolution of disputes at the earliest opportunity, using mediation as a tool to allow the parties to reach an agreement that best meets their individual needs.
When she's not mediating Kathy looks after her two young sons and enjoys running, riding and trying to grow vegetables.
